How are we different?

Delaney Wright Fine Arts Preschool is proud to be a unique and creative institution. We like to think of ourselves as different than the status quo - And we like to think that makes us an even better match for you and your family. How are we different? We offer experiences that, while they may be available at other preschools, are rarely available all together at the same school!

The Fine Arts

We make the Fine Arts (Creative Visual Expression, Drama, Music, Dance, and more!) the focus of our hands-on and play based education. Students at DWFAP engage the arts actively and creatively and through their experiences are able to learn and grow! From our Artist of the Month curriculum, banging drums or shaking maracas during music instruction, to our regular theatre productions and drama lessons, the DWFAP campus is alive with creative expression, rhythm, and learning! There are two main reasons why our approach to education is through the arts. One is very tangible, the other makes all the difference in the world.

Your child’s quirky art isn’t just cute—science suggests that even the most bizarre depictions can have deep creative intention.

The Hidden Meanings of Children's Shapes & Scribbles | The Atlantic

Learning through the arts means that children are exposed to the arts every day in all that they do. And they learn to appreciate the arts in their lives. And they begin to see that life is not all about competition and hurrying and keeping up with the Jones’. Rather they see more of the beauty in life. More of the contours of what makes this life worth living. Then kids can be more creative in how they live their lives and see the world. There are some who believe that creativity is the currency of the 21st century. That may be true, but we see it more like Thoreau in that “this world is but a canvas to our imagination.”

S.T.E.A.M Instruction

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math are the foundational subjects of today - and tomorrow's - great careers. At Delaney Wright, we believe that you can never start exploring and learning to love STEAM lessons too soon! We engage our students in exciting Science exploration labs, and encourage our youngsters to think critically as we practice problem solving! Our Hope Garden gives us the unique opportunity to teach basic biology as we have fun in the garden! We know that our students will be well equipped to continue their STEAM learning when they move on from our Preschool and march towards an amazing career!

Spanish Language Learning

We know how important it is that children be engaged with foreign language early on in their development. That's why we make Spanish language learning an important part of our teaching and our play. From learning songs in Spanish to practicing basic Spanish vocabulary alongside their English grammar learning, Delaney Wright students are very much engaged in a multilingual campus and curriculum that will help prepare them to thrive in our beautiful and multicultural city of Los Angeles!

The Hope Garden

Blessed with a beautiful community garden on our campus, Delaney students spend time experiencing our garden and learning about the plants and processes they see there through our unique, hands-on, garden and science-based curriculum. From planting new flowers to picking fresh fruits and veggies, the garden is a beautiful, bountiful, educational, and enriching space for our students, staff, parents, and community to enjoy!
